Dr. Hawkins received her undergraduate degree in 1976 at the University of Notre Dame in the first class of women. She double majored in pre-professional studies and art. Dr. Hawkins then went on to pursue her Doctor of Dental Surgery Degree (D.D.S.) degree from the University of Southern California School of Dentistry in 1980. Dr. Hawkins continues her learning to this day, attending post-graduate courses regularly to keep on top of the latest advances for cosmetic dentistry. As she explains, “I have always felt blessed to be a part of a profession where I can positively influence people’s lives. I am passionate about the artistry of dentistry and dedicated to optimizing oral health with detail to anatomic and functional harmony and occlusal stability.
Dr. Hawkins is an active member in the American Dental Association, the California Dental Association, the San Diego County Dental Society and the Newport Harbor Academy of Dentistry. Also, she is very active in the community, supporting many local charities and organizations in addition to being an active member in her church. When not practicing, she spends time with her family and friends, enjoying traveling, skiing, surfing, and sailing. But, as she notes, “No matter where I go, it’s always special to come home to Del Mar, go for a walk on the beach, and enjoy a nice dinner with friends.
